Npros.com | 9/21/2008 CHANDLER -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies raided Gold Canyon Candle Company at Arizona Avenue and Riggs Road Wednesday morning.According to a press release, as many as 23 people are involved in identity theft, a White House staff member connection and an internal plan by plant employees to avoid capture by immigration or law enforcement authorities. An employee's mother said deputies were inside, asking for immigration papers. Authorities say 65 people, most of who were illegals, were arrested in the raid. Twenty-three of those were booked on identity theft charges and 37 taken into custody based on their illegal status. |

Arizona Republic | 10/8/2007 Fragrances from Gold Canyon Candles in southeast Chandler are wafting towards Europe.The rapidly growing candle maker opened a headquarters branch in Chester, England, and a distribution center in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, this week , to kick off sales there. "We absolutely look at it as a stepping stone for going into Europe," said Terrie Robinson, chief operating and chief financial officer for Gold Canyon. This is the direct-sale company's year for going global as it opened a distribution center in Canada earlier this year. Robinson said the company is entering the European market because surveys show that fragrant candles are very popular there and that Europeans are "very friendly towards direct sales."
